Mac OS X, in turn, evolved in part from Steve Jobs' NeXT operating system - which had recently been acquired by Apple - and its launch was the harbinger of the second Jobs era at Apple. The Remnant Precursors are an unknown alien species that lived in the Ember Waste before the Remnant. Almost nothing is known about them and they are only mentioned twice in the game, in the descriptions of the Point Defense Turret and the Salvage Scanner.

  • The only remnant of the SE is the stripe across the front panel (bezel) for the floppy drive; the distinctive front bezel lines of the SE were not used on the Classic, and the vertical lines around its base are replaced by four horizontal vent lines, more reminiscent of the original design.
  • Remnants of the Precursors is a strict feature clone of the 1993 classic. It's free, open source and a Beta version is out now. Given the age of Master of Orion, it's nice to see a fresh modern take on it while sticking to what made the original popular.
